This thatched heritage cottage was used as fishing cottage on the farm of the great Boer war General Johann Schoeman. General Schoeman’s home was situated on the hill in Meerhof. The cottage is furnished in African Colonial style using antiques from that period. The gardens are well kept and stocked with flowers through the year. Grass lawn for kids to play.
Lodge is 500m from the entrance to the water at the Meerhof foreshore. We supply gazebo’s/tables/chairs/canoes & fishing gear. Facilities to braai are available. Boats can be launched. Camping facilities.

Vincent Carruthers has produced an exciting story about the role of Robert Moffat, the missionary, who became Mzilikazi’s great friend.
